Cycle Tours

We have a fleet of over 20 bikes with a range of sizes and our own qualified bike mechanic.
Cycle tours are a fantastic mode of travel across Malawi and whether you're just looking to hire one for your own exploration, or whether you're looking to arrange a group cycle tour. We can help in a variety of different ways.
Our Land & Lake Team are able to facilitate group cycle expeditions with back-up vehicles and equipment, a bike mechanic, picnic lunches and water stops en-route, GMX route plans across the country, a bike guide, accommodation and everything in between.
We can accommodate a maximum of 20 cyclists per group booking to allow everyone to truly enjoy the experience!
Add in rest stops between to enjoy locations such as Lake Malawi, Liwonde National Park, Zomba Plateau or Thyolo Tea Estates. With a mixture of on and off-road routes, either a leisurely cycle with minimum distances between, or a real challenge. The choice is yours!

Specie Specific

Central Africa has an incredible variety of species found in very few parts of the world. Zambia is also home to two sets of incredible migrations, one being the largest mammal migration in the world, the Straw-Colored Fruit Bat in Kasanka National Park, and the second largest wildebeest migration in Africa down in Liuwa Plains.
Bangweulu Wetlands is home to the elusive shoebill stork's nesting grounds, the southernmost location where you can find this almost prehistoric looking species of bird.
There are also a variety of species endemic to specific areas across both Malawi and Zambia, like Lake Malawi that is home to over 700 species of cichlids, many endemics to this incredible body of water.
The Thornicroft Giraffe and Cookson's Wildebeest are also endemic to Zambia and have thriving numbers across South Luangwa, North Luangwa and Luambe National Park.
Malawi is also home to various endemic chameleons, geckos and lizards, like the Mount Mulanje Chameleon, Chapman's pygmy Chameleon, King Dwarf Gecko, Mulanje Skink and the Nyika Serpentiform Skink.
Not to mention species of frogs, birds, such as the Yellow-throated Apalis, mice and dormice, butterflies, moths, spiders and over 50 endemic plant species!

We're able to tailor-make a tour dedicated to certain species that may add to your interests or research.
We can ensure you have what you need to do your work, like providing generators and lights for night work, allocating a dedicated guide who is able to assist you in the field, ensuring you have a vehicle large enough for your equipment and able to get across terrain you might need to access. We can ensure you're catered for with packed breakfasts, lunches and dinners or ensure you have camping equipment at hand for a remote and wild set-up on your journey!

Birding in abundance

Get the best out of your Malawi twitching!
All our guides are qualified birders, but Jim Katengu has made it his passion.
From individuals across the capital city of Lilongwe, offering short morning bird walks and introductory birding lessons, to group tours dedicated to the feathered friends of Malawi and Central Africa.
We have an extensive knowledge base when it comes down to where certain species frequent on an annual basis and can guide your route if you have species you'd particularly like to search for.
Malawi is home to a diverse range of habitats which makes birding the focus, with few hours drive between Miombo woodland, marshes, riverine, open savannah and mountains.

Camping Expeditions

Across some of Central Africa's most remote locations, these popular camping expeditions are tailored to your preferences. Guided and accompanied by a camp chef, tents, sleeping cots and bedding, tables, chairs and catering equipment. We take you on a journey of discovery where you can sit back and enjoy the ride while we take care of everything!
Cooked breakfasts watching the sun rise over the African savannah, sprawling lunches in the wilderness after a morning of exploring your surroundings and three course dinners under the stars.

Whether you're an agent looking to establish an annual expedition for your guests, or if you're a family or a group looking to experience a tour like this privately - We can tailor a tour suited to you!
